This Life, This Breath was filmed in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Mexico. While there recovering from an illness, Sykes began daily visits to a cemetery in the jungle where she experienced the permeable boundary between life and death. Within this context, a friendship developed between the artist and a young local girl that aided Sykes’s healing journey.
