Sykess current installations are site specific, temporal, and address the interrelationships of movement, time, landscape, and the body. The process and look of the installations is both related to and informed by her performance and studio work, particularly and most elementally that of drawing. Sykes employs the archetypal symbols she has developed over the last four years to create these fleeting sacred spaces. Working with materials that will not harm the environment is another important aspect of the work. Shown in this ongoing series are works done in California, New Zealand, Indiana and Illinois.
