100 Women: Collaborations Beyond the Veil, 2020
Video 8:19

100 Women: Collaborations Beyond the Veil is a nuanced visual, textual, and audio experience created by Ginny Sykes with original music by Victor Sanders. Presented in video format, it portrays 100 women, through 100 connected photographs, first presented on the 100th year anniversary of the 19th amendment. Collaborations Beyond the Veil began as a solo performance set amidst an outdoor installation. This work was inspired by, and in homage to, Teresa Mangiacapra, Sykes’ collaborator and friend who passed away in 2018. The project was handed off to Sykes, and she transformed the work into large-scale banners for installation and print. The video above of 100 Women is a digital version of a print catalog, created in partnership with Chicago Women’s History Center, in an effort to make this project more accessible to the widest audience.
